414 WWUS74 KMAF 090627 NPWMAF URGENT - WEATHER MESSAGE National Weather Service Midland/Odessa TX 127 AM CDT Sun Jun 9 2024 TXZ277>280-282-092000- /O.NEW.KMAF.HT.Y.0017.240609T1800Z-240610T0100Z/ Davis Mountains-Davis Mountains Foothills-Central Brewster County- Chisos Basin-Lower Brewster County- Including the cities of Alpine, Panther Junction, Chisos Basin, Marathon, Fort Davis, Big Bend National Park, Castolon, and Lajitas 127 AM CDT Sun Jun 9 2024 ...HEAT ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 1 PM THIS AFTERNOON TO 8 PM CDT THIS EVENING... * WHAT...Temperatures up to 95 degrees expected in the mountains, 100 degrees across the foothills and Central Brewster County, and 111 degrees along the Rio Grande in the Big Bend. * WHERE...Central and Lower Brewster County, Chisos Basin, Davis Mountains, and Davis Mountains Foothills. * WHEN...From 1 PM this afternoon to 8 PM CDT this evening. * IMPACTS...Hot temperatures may cause heat illnesses. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. Look before you lock! Do not leave young children and pets in unattended vehicles for even a moment. Car interiors will very quickly reach lethal temperatures. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments.
