...A STRONG THUNDERSTORM WILL IMPACT NORTHEASTERN EDDY AND
SOUTHWESTERN LEA COUNTIES THROUGH 400 PM MDT...

At 318 PM MDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm over
Avalon, or 9 miles north of Carlsbad, moving northeast at 35 mph.

HAZARD...Wind gusts of 50 to 55 mph and penny size hail.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
         unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is
         possible.

Locations impacted include...
Carlsbad, Avalon, Carlsbad North, Lake Avalon, Lea County Zip
Franklin Memorial Airport, and Loco Hills.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.

To report severe weather, contact your nearest law enforcement
agency. They will relay your report to the National Weather Service
office in Midland.

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect until 1000 PM MDT for
southeastern New Mexico.
