532 FXUS64 KMEG 170811 AFDMEG Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Memphis TN 311 AM CDT Tue Sep 17 2024 ...New SYNOPSIS, DISCUSSION... .SYNOPSIS... Issued at 311 AM CDT Tue Sep 17 2024 Dry and seasonal temperatures will prevail through the forecast period. Fog will be possible each night under clear skies and light winds. Highs will be in the 80s and morning lows in the upper 50s and 60s. Our next chance of rain does not look to come until next week. && .DISCUSSION... (Today through Monday) Issued at 311 AM CDT Tue Sep 17 2024 Clear skies and little to no wind can be found across the Mid- South as of 3 AM. A soggy surface has allowed Dense Fog (<1/4 mi) to develop in portions of the Mid-South. Fog development will continue as well as any current fog will continue to lower visibilities. A Dense Fog Advisory is in effect until 9 AM this morning. Proceed with caution and allow for extra time on your morning commute. A calm and quiet pattern is expected this week for the Mid-South under an Omega Blocking pattern. An upper level ridge is sandwiched between what was once PTC8 and a deep trough over the Rockies. N/NNE flow aloft will keep temperatures just below normal today (in the 80s). The upper ridge will intensify over the next few days resulting in temperatures to inch warmer each day through the week. Under the influence of this high pressure, skies will be clear with light winds each night supporting fog development. Thankfully, the surface will slowly dry out each day with sunshine and should allow fog visibilities to not deteriorate as much the following nights. Our next chance of rain does not look to come until next week. DNM && .AVIATION... (06Z TAFS) Issued at 1118 PM CDT Mon Sep 16 2024 VFR. As skies remain clear, winds remain calm, and ample left over moisture from previous rainfall is present, fog with reduced vsbys is expected to impact JBR/MKL/TUP early this morning, before lifting around sunrise. Light northeast winds will remain through the TAF period. AEH && .MEG WATCHES/WARNINGS/ADVISORIES... AR...Dense Fog Advisory until 9 AM CDT this morning for ARZ035-036- 048-049-058. MO...None.
