138 FXUS64 KOHX 201146 AFDOHX Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Nashville TN 646 AM CDT Fri Sep 20 2024 ...New AVIATION... .SHORT TERM... (Today through Sunday) Issued at 1254 AM CDT Fri Sep 20 2024 Some fog is just beginning to show up on satellite imagery and I expect more to develop before dawn similar to last night. Today will be similar to yesterday but a couple degrees warmer as upper ridging continues to push in from the southwest. Highs will span from the upper 80s on the plateau to the mid 90s for the warmer parts of the area including Nashville. Heat index values will be very close to the air temperatures thanks to the tolerable humidity. The weekend will be more of the same as the ridge is the dominant features. Patchy fog will be possible again tonight and tomorrow night. && .LONG TERM... (Sunday Night through next Friday) Issued at 1254 AM CDT Fri Sep 20 2024 The ridge begins to flatten Sunday night as a trough moves from the front range of the Rockies across the central plains. The upper level flow will become southwesterly over our area with a weak disturbance ahead of the shortwave trough on Monday. This could encourage a few scattered storms to develop Monday afternoon. A surface low will take form over the Midwest Monday night dragging a weak cold front behind it. The cold front will move through Middle Tennessee on Tuesday with some scattered storms ahead of it. Behind the front, temperatures will drop to values closer to average for late September with highs in the upper 70s to lower 80s and lows in the 50s to lower 60s. && .AVIATION... (12Z TAFS) Issued at 642 AM CDT Fri Sep 20 2024 VFR conditions will prevail today. Some patchy fog tried to develop early this morning causing some periods of IFR, but has since dissipated. Some remaining fog can be expected in low lying areas this morning but should dissipate by 13z. && .PRELIMINARY POINT TEMPS/POPS...
