Rating: EF3 Estimated Peak Wind: 140 mph Path Length /statute/: 19.58 miles Path Width /maximum/: 300 yards Fatalities: 1 Injuries: 0 Start Date: 05/26/2024 Start Time: 07:15 AM CDT Start Location: 3 NE Baker / Stoddard County / MO Start Lat/Lon: 36.801 / -89.7199 End Date: 05/26/2024 End Time: 07:31 AM CDT End Location: Diehlstadt / Scott County / MO End Lat/Lon: 36.9618 / -89.4313 Survey Summary: An EF-3 tornado with estimated peak winds of 140 mph struck Stoddard and Scott Counties, including the city of Sikeston. The tornado began in far eastern Stoddard County where it snapped a power pole on County Road 793. Moving east-northeast, the tornado badly damaged a well-built brick home east of Morehouse, removing its roof and collapsing most of the exterior walls. Moving into Sikeston, the tornado did extensive and severe tree damage through the south side of the city. Approaching and crossing Malone Ave, the tornado removed part of the roof school building and a nearby former farm supply store, where cinder block walls also collapsed. North of Malone Ave, the tornado collapsed a tall wooden light pole at a ball field, and removed most of the roof of a house. The tornado turned more northeast as it exited Sikeston, doing damage to trees, power lines, and outbuildings before ending in the community of Dielhstadt. && EF Scale: The Enhanced Fujita Scale classifies tornadoes into the following categories: EF0.....65 to 85 mph EF1.....86 to 110 mph EF2.....111 to 135 mph EF3.....136 to 165 mph EF4.....166 to 200 mph EF5.....>200 mph NOTE: The information in this statement is preliminary and subject to change pending final review of the event and publication in NWS Storm Data. $$ DWS/KEC/JGG
