The Pittsburgh PA climate summary for the month  of August, 2024.
The maximum temperature for the period was 94.  The record maximum
temperature is 103 degrees which was set in 1918.  The minimum
temperature for the period was 49. The record minimum temperature is
39 degrees which was set in 1982.  The average temperature was 73.8
degrees which is 2.0 degrees above the normal average temperature of
71.8 degrees.  The maximum temperature exceeded 90 degrees on 8 days
this period.  The minimum temperature did not fall below 32 degrees.
 A total of 5.12 inches of precipitation fell during the period
which is 1.60 inches above the normal amount of 3.52.  No snow fell
during the period which is normal.  There were 8 heating degree days
this period which is 1 above the normal amount of 7 days.  There
were 289 cooling degree days this period which is 70 above the
normal amount of 219 days.  The maximum wind was 29 miles per hour
from the north and occurred on August 6.  The maximum wind gust was
37 miles per hour from the southwest and occurred on August 17.
