855 FXUS65 KPIH 192020 AFDPIH Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Pocatello ID 220 PM MDT Thu Sep 19 2024 .SHORT TERM...Tonight through Friday night. No significant impacts in short term period. May see some patchy morning fog on Friday in upper snake river highlands valleys and valleys in the far south near the Utah border. Otherwise clear skies expected for the most part through Friday night. Lows tonight mainly 30s mountains with some 20s mountain valleys and 40s valleys with highs Friday near normal in the 60s mountains and 70s valleys. Will have 10 to 20 mph in the Snake River Plain Friday afternoon. GK .LONG TERM...Saturday through Thursday. Looks to be a no impact period with the only chance for precipitation on Monday as a weak system from the northwest drops south. We only have a slight chance of showers in the Upper Snake Highlands Monday afternoon. Highs will start out mainly in the 50s and 60s mountains and 60s to lower 70s valleys Saturday through Monday. Upper ridge will build in the middle part of next week and by next Wednesday and Thursday expect low elevation high temperatures near 80 degrees once again. Not expecting winds to be a major impact in the long term period. GK && .AVIATION... Widespread VFR expected through Friday afternoon. However there is at least a small chance could see some fog and MVFR to IFR at IDA early Friday morning. Did not put it in the TAF. Expect 10 to 15 knot sustained winds Friday after 18Z at BYI, PIH and IDA. GK && .FIRE WEATHER... Overall dry conditions are expected for the next 7 days. A very slight chance of showers Sunday in zones 475 and 476 and in zone 411 on Monday. Otherwise dry throughout the next week. Minimum humidity will be well over 25 percent for the most part and significant wind not expected through next Thursday. GK && .PIH WATCHES/WARNINGS/ADVISORIES... None. && $$
