.DISCUSSION...
Issued at 1259 PM MDT Tue Sep 24 2024

H5 ridging continues to dominate the weather across Wyoming
through the upcoming weekend. This will keep skies nearly clear
through Saturday, with non-autumn temperatures. H7 temperatures
still expected to be around 15C Wednesday through Friday, which
translates to a sfc temperature range of mid 80s to low 90s for
lower elevations east of the Divide, low 80s for lower
elevations west of the Divide, and lower 70s for higher
elevations. These higher temperatures will contribute to
slightly elevated fire weather concerns the rest of the week,
with humidity levels generally falling to around 15 percent each
afternoon. Winds tomorrow will be marginally concerning, with
sustained winds above 15 mph only for greater Johnson and
Natrona Counties, and are not currently expected to last for a
full 3 hour period. Thus have opted not for a RFW at this time.
Thursday may be a better concern for fire weather, as winds will
be somewhat higher as a weak system passes to the north. More
frequent and widespread winds above 15 mph and frequent gusts
above 25 mph, especially from RKS to CPR to BYG.

Looking into this weekend, temps remain well above normal, but
as tempered slightly by increasing cloud cover from the next
approaching system. This system would not impact locally before
Monday, and models still in disagreement on how far south it
sweeps before moving east.
