Northwest Louisiana...East Texas...and Extreme Southeast Oklahoma National Weather Service Shreveport LA 309 PM CDT Tue Sep 24 2024 .DISCUSSION... Isolated to widely scattered showers and thunderstorms will remain possible this evening over Deep East Texas and the southern sections of Northcentral Louisiana, near and ahead of a weak surface front that will linger over Lower East Texas and North Louisiana. However, the approach of a strong upper trough from the northwest, associated with an upper level low pressure system that will shift southeast into the Mid-Mississippi Valley tonight, will reinforce a cold front southeast into the area late tonight through Wednesday morning, with scattered showers and a few thunderstorms developing along the front and spreading south into East Texas, Southern Arkansas, and North Louisiana. These showers will diminish from north to south during the day, with slightly cooler and drier air spilling south in its wake. Mild and dry conditions are expected Wednesday and much of Thursday, before the parent upper level low drifts south-southwest into the Lower Mississippi Valley, bringing about increased cloud cover and the potential for wrap-around showers Thursday night and Friday across areas along and north of I-20 across Northeast Texas, Southeast Oklahoma, Southwest Arkansas, and portions of extreme Northern Louisiana. Below normal temperatures and mostly dry conditions are expected this upcoming weekend.
