754 FXUS64 KSJT 251853 AFDSJT Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service San Angelo TX 153 PM CDT Tue Jun 25 2024 ...New LONG TERM... .SHORT TERM... (Today and tonight) Issued at 313 AM CDT Tue Jun 25 2024 Upper level ridge will remain in place across West Central Texas, centered along the Texas and New Mexico border. Northwest flow will allow for a convective complex to dive southeast across portions of Oklahoma into North-Central and North-East Texas but nothing looks like it will approach our area. Temperatures today will be near or perhaps a little above where they ended up on Monday so most areas will be in the 97 to 103 range today. Dewpoints fell into the lower/mid 60s across the area on Monday afternoon and kept Heat Index values generally near the 100 degree mark. Wont be quite so lucky today with both higher temperatures and a little better low level moisture pushing heat index readings into the 100 to 105 range for most locations. This is flirting with the heat advisory criteria of 105. Will hold off on the advisory for now but will need to monitor closely. && .LONG TERM... (Wednesday night through next Tuesday) Issued at 152 PM CDT Tue Jun 25 2024 Hot and dry conditions will continue across West Central Texas through the extended forecast. An upper level ridge will continue to dominate the weather across much of Texas, including West Central Texas, resulting in above normal temperatures. Highs will generally be in the upper 90s to 104, with overnight lows in the 70s. Heat index values on Thursday may approach Heat Advisory criteria again across our eastern counties, but should be slightly lower than what is forecast on Wednesday. No rain is forecast through the beginning of next week. && .AVIATION... (18Z TAFS) Issued at 1236 PM CDT Tue Jun 25 2024 No significant aviation concerns, with VFR expected for the next 24 hours. && .PRELIMINARY POINT TEMPS/POPS...
