152 FXUS64 KSJT 230827 AFDSJT Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service San Angelo TX 327 AM CDT Sun Jun 23 2024 ...New SHORT TERM... .SHORT TERM... (Today and tonight) Issued at 325 AM CDT Sun Jun 23 2024 An upper level ridge centered over Texas is our dominant weather feature. With low-level moisture a little less than yesterday, skies today will be sunny and anticipate only patchy cumulus development over our eastern counties. With some expansion of the 850mb thermal ridge into our area from the west, expect highs this afternoon to be a little hotter than yesterday. Going with highs mostly in the mid 90s in our Heartland and southern counties, and upper 90s to around 100 degrees in the Big Country and the Concho Valley. South to southeast winds will be 6-12 mph. For tonight, expect clear skies through most of the night, with patchy low cloud development over the I-10 corridor toward morning. Temperatures will be warm with overnight lows in the lower to mid 70s in our southern and central counties, and mostly in the mid 70s across the Big Country. Southeast winds will become south overnight. && .LONG TERM... (Sunday night through next Saturday) Issued at 135 PM CDT Sat Jun 22 2024 A building 500mb ridge will be the main feature driving weather conditions throughout next week. The ridge should build in over Texas with heights topping out at 592 dam, while 850mb temperatures look to be in the 18-22 deg C range, pushing to 24 deg C by midweek. As a result, afternoon temperatures are expected to be in the upper 90s to around 100 to start the week, then reach the 100-105 degree range from Wednesday onward. Southerly surface flow should also keep humidity levels up, with dewpoints of 65-70 expected. Overnight lows will likely be in the upper 70s due to the muggy conditions. One potential limiting factor, given the steady low-level moisture, could be lingering cloud cover from nightly stratus decks that may occur from the Concho Valley southward. These areas could end up being several degrees cooler than areas north of the Concho Valley. && .AVIATION... (06Z TAFS) Issued at 1137 PM CDT Sat Jun 22 2024 VFR conditions are expected through the next 24 hours, with generally clear skies. Winds will be from the south to southeast at 5-10 knots. && .PRELIMINARY POINT TEMPS/POPS...
