No significant changes needed to the short term portion of the
forecast. Temperatures early this afternoon are in the lower to

.LONG TERM...
(Saturday night through next Friday)
Issued at 125 PM CDT Fri Jun 14 2024

A shortwave will move through the southern plains Saturday within
overall ridging. No significant impacts from this feature are
expected in our area. A large trough will develop over the western
half of the U. S. by Monday, with ridging over the southeastern
states. Ridging will be maintained over west central Texas,
keeping our forecast mainly dry and hot from Saturday through
Tuesday. Highs will be in the mid 90s to around 100, with lows
generally in the 70s.

By the second half of next week, models continue to indicate
upper level troughing over the western Gulf of Mexico, moving into
the southern Texas coast. There is even the possibility of a
tropical disturbance developing late next week. Should a tropical
wave/disturbance be able to move westward into southern Texas, we
could see an increase in moisture and chance for showers and
thunderstorms. Precipitation chances will remain in the 20 to 30
percent range for the second half of next week, along with high
temperatures cooling into the upper 80s to lower 90s.
