Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service San Angelo TX
220 PM CDT Fri Jun 21 2024

...New LONG TERM...

.SHORT TERM...
(This evening through Saturday)
Issued at 159 PM CDT Fri Jun 21 2024

As of this afternoon, skies were partly cloudy with temperatures
hovering around 90 and winds from the south at 10 to 15 MPH. Unlike
the past few days an upper level ridge, currently located over the
Tennessee Valley, has started to build in across central Texas. This
feature should help to suppress most chances for rain today and
tomorrow and allow warmer temperatures to occur. Another round of
nocturnal stratus is expected to develop and build in late tonight
across the Edwards Plateau and northwest Hill Country areas. This
cloud cover should burn off by late morning. Other than a few
showers along and south of the I-10 corridor this afternoon,
precipitation is not expected through tomorrow evening.

.LONG TERM...
(Saturday night through next Friday)
Issued at 218 PM CDT Fri Jun 21 2024

For the weekend, we continue the warming trend across the region
as dry conditions make a return. A high pressure system will
develop across the southwestern U.S., which will leave us on the
eastern end of this system. This will be the root cause of our hot
and dry conditions. Some locations may make a return to the
triple digits early next week. In fact, heat indexes near 105
degrees are possible, which will increase the likelihood for heat
related illnesses.

Issued at 1231 PM CDT Fri Jun 21 2024

terminals and continue through the morning.
