FIRE WEATHER DANGER. RISK...Limited. AREA...Northwest of Interstate 44. ONSET...This Afternoon. DISCUSSION... A few severe thunderstorms will be possible late this afternoon into this evening, mainly across parts of northeast Oklahoma. Damaging winds will be the main severe weather threat. Afternoon heat index values will climb into the 100 to 105 degree range today across much of northeast Oklahoma. A limited fire weather danger will also exist to the northwest of Interstate 44 due to the lack of recent rainfall and breezy south winds today. SPOTTER AND EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT ACTION STATEMENT... Local Spotter Activation May Be Needed. .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Friday through Wednesday. FRIDAY...Dangerous Heat Potential. SATURDAY...Thunderstorm Potential...Dangerous Heat Potential. SUNDAY through WEDNESDAY...Thunderstorm Potential. EXTENDED DISCUSSION... Afternoon heat index values in the 100 to 105 degree range will be common Friday and Saturday afternoons across much of eastern Oklahoma and west central Arkansas. Thunderstorm chances will return over the weekend, with the best chances late Sunday and Sunday night as a cold front moves across the area.
