.DISCUSSION...(Today Through Saturday)
Issued at 101 AM MDT Sun Sep 22 2024

Water vapor shows split trof axis to our east with fast
west/northwest flow across the norther tier. Surface high has
settled into northeast WY and the western Dakotas, with temps
early this morning in the 30s/40s.

Highs today will generally be in the lower to mid 70s on the
plains with southerly flow returning. Next upper wave moves
through Monday, with winds shifting back to the northwest. Highs
will reach into the 80s south/east of the Black Hills ahead of the
cold front. Tuesday will cool back down into the 70s behind the
fropa.

Large upper ridge building through the Rockies Tuesday will shift
into the Plains Wednesday and Thursday, with temps back well into
the 80s Wednesday along with some 90s Thursday. Ridge will flatten
late in the week and weekend as disturbed westerly flow
strengthens over the northern tier. This will support a slight
cool down, but chances for precip will remain very low.
