Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service Las Vegas NV
656 PM PDT Mon Sep 23 2024

.SYNOPSIS...Quiet weather with temperatures 5 to 10 degrees
above normal will persist into early October as a ridge of high
pressure holds over our region.
&&

.UPDATE...Quiet conditions this evening featuring mostly clear skies
and light winds. There are some high clouds in the southern Great
Basin moving along the periphery of the high pressure system,
currently centered over southern Oregon. Once again temperatures are
a few degrees higher than at this time yesterday as atmospheric
heights rise.
&&

.DISCUSSION...through next Monday.

Very little discernible change in the day-to-day weather is in store
for our region through this week and into the next as we remain
under a mean area of high pressure. This pattern will keep
temperatures 5-10 degrees above normal with generally tranquil
conditions and little to no cloud cover most days. The main concern
will be prolonged moderate HeatRisk for most of the lower desert
zones as high temperatures climb to around 100 degrees in Las Vegas,
and other areas of similar elevation, each day Wednesday through the
weekend. Highs of 105-108 will be common along the lower Colorado
River Valley, and around 110 degrees in Death Valley.
&&

.AVIATION...For Harry Reid...Light winds with northeast or east
components during the afternoon and southwest components overnight
will continue through Tuesday night. VFR conditions with no
significant clouds.

For the rest of southern Nevada, northwest Arizona and southeast
California...Diurnal winds generally 10kts or less are expected at
most regional TAF sites through Tuesday. Daytime north winds around
15 knots will occur at IFP. VFR conditions will prevail at all sites
with no significant cloud cover expected.

&&

.SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...Spotters are encouraged to report
any significant weather or impacts according to standard operating
procedures.
