599 FNAK52 PAFG 231410 FWFWCZ Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Western Alaska National Weather Service Fairbanks AK 610 AM AKDT Sun Jun 23 2024 .DISCUSSION... Hot and dry weather will continue in Western Alaska, with most non-coastal locations rising into the 70s today and Monday, with relative humidity values falling into the 30s and 40s percent. West of a building area of ridge of high pressure over the eastern part of the state, and an area of instability will develop along a line from roughly McGrath to Hughes and along the Brooks Range, allowing for isolated to widely scattered thunderstorms. While another chance for isolated storms will exist on Monday, it will be mostly limited to areas near and south of the Lower Kuskokwim Valley and areas east of Howard Pass. With the building ridge, temperatures will rise and RH values will fall in most areas through midweek, when many areas may reach the lower 80s. Scattered showers will be possible in the Western Interior and numerous showers in the YK Delta area around midweek as a storm system enters the Bering Sea from the southeast.
