Welcome to the first day of autumn! Unfortunately, the weather hasn`t picked up on the fact that it`s fall. While it`ll be dry and mostly sunny this week, temperatures will actually increase slightly Tuesday-Wednesday, with lower valleys pushing 90 degrees! It`s a less than 10% chance of reaching 90 as of right now, but the probability of Reno reaching 88 degrees on Tuesday is 70%. It`s not until this upcoming weekend that we`ll see temperatures start to slip back down to seasonal norms. The overall pattern this week will consist of a transient high pressure early in the week, then our region gets clipped by a shortwave trough Wednesday, and eventually into a zonal flow by Thursday. Aside from a 10% chance of isolated showers along the Sierra crest this afternoon in Mono county, this week will remain fairly dry. The system on Wednesday will be pretty weak and create some breezy conditions across northeast CA and northern Washoe county. These conditions could bring an increased risk of elevated fire weather conditions for those areas. -Justin

Although it`s much drier than yesterday morning, there`s still a 10- 15% chance of patchy fog at KTRK this morning. Otherwise, light winds, mostly sunny skies, and VFR conditions will prevail through Tuesday. -Justin
