...DENSE SMOKE ADVISORY NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 PM AKDT THIS
EVENING...

* WHAT...Dense smoke with visibility 1 mile or less.

* WHERE...Tanana Flats and along the Richardson Highway between
  Salcha and Birch Lake.

* WHEN...Until 7 PM AKDT this evening.

* IMPACTS...Hazardous driving conditions due to low visibility.
  Dense smoke will have health affects on people with
  respiratory illness.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Dense smoke will continue to affect the
  area between Salcha and Birch Lake early this afternoon. Then,
  northeast winds are expected to increase and push the smoke
  southwest over the Tanana Flats, away from the Richardson
  Highway. The northeast winds are expected to continue through
  Saturday night and keep the smoke away from the Richardson
  Highway through Saturday night.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Persons with respiratory illnesses should remain indoors to avoid
inhaling smoke. If driving, slow down, use your headlights, and
leave plenty of distance ahead of you.
