...RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT UNTIL 10 PM AKDT THIS EVENING FOR LIGHTNING...

The National Weather Service in Fairbanks has issued a Red Flag
Warning, which is in effect until 10 PM AKDT this evening.

* AFFECTED AREA...Upper Chena River Valley, Eielson AFB and
  Salcha, Goldstream Valley and Nenana Hills, Chatanika River
  Valley and Nenana.

* TIMING...Until 10 PM AKDT this evening.

* LIGHTNING ACTIVITY LEVEL...4.

* WINDS...Southeast 5 to 10 mph.

* HUMIDITY...As low as 29 percent.

* TEMPERATURES...Highs in the low to mid 80s.

* IMPACTS...Frequent lightning can promote new fire starts. Hot
  and dry conditions may lead to rapid spread of fires.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Red Flag Warning means that conditions are occurring or will
occur which could lead to the development of large and dangerous
fires. It is directed toward fire agencies, and through them, to
the public.

  conditions. For the second Red Flag Warning, from 10 AM to 11 PM
  AKDT Friday for lightning.

* LIGHTNING ACTIVITY LEVEL...2 on Thursday, 4 on Friday.

* WINDS...Southeast 5 to 15 mph with gusts up to 25 mph on Thursday.
  Southwest 5 to 10 mph on Friday.

* HUMIDITY...As low as 21 percent Thursday. As low as 24 percent Friday.

* TEMPERATURES...Highs in the mid to upper 80s.

* IMPACTS...Rapid ignition, growth and spread of fires will be
