Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Central South Carolina
and East Central Georgia
National Weather Service Columbia SC
157 PM EDT Thu Jun 27 2024

.DISCUSSION...
The main concern over the next several days is that the hot
summer pattern is expected to continue into next week. With the
lack of appreciable precipitation for much of the area, fire
weather concerns will continue to increase, especially with the
Independence Day celebrations coming up.

Afternoon showers and storms are expected to be isolated to
scattered each day, so a widespread wetting rain is not expected
on any given day. Winds will remain generally out of the south
with some gusty winds likely each afternoon as mixing develops. A
front approaches the area Sunday into Monday with additional rain
chances expected, followed by wind shift out of the north and
drier air filling in for Monday. One final note, the highest heat
index values are expected to occur on Sunday, with readings
between 105 to 113 becoming possible due to increased moisture.

Fog potential for tonight: Patchy fog possible.
