...A STRONG THUNDERSTORM WILL IMPACT NORTHEASTERN ST. LOUIS COUNTY
THROUGH 430 PM CDT...

At 408 PM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm over
northwestern Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness, or 26 miles
northwest of Ely, moving northeast at 50 mph.

HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph and half inch hail.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
         unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is
         possible.

Locations impacted include...
Lac la Croix, Lac La Croix, Lake Agnes, Loon Lake, and Crooked Lake.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.

Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm.
Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe
shelter inside a building or vehicle.

If on or near Lac La Croix, get out of the water and seek shelter.
Remember, lightning can strike out to 10 miles from the parent
thunderstorm. If you can hear thunder, you are close enough to be
struck by lightning. Move to safe shelter now! Do not be caught on
the water in a thunderstorm.
