...Forecast flooding changed from Moderate to Major severity for the
following rivers in Iowa...

  West Fork Des Moines River at Emmetsburg affecting Pocahontas and
  Palo Alto Counties.

.Record flooding is forecast along portions of the West Fork Des
Moines River.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

For the latest river and stream observations and forecasts refer to
weather.gov/desmoines/water.

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

River forecasts include observed precipitation plus forecast
precipitation over the next 24 hours.

...FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE...

* WHAT...Moderate flooding is occurring and major flooding is
  forecast. Record flooding is expected.

* WHERE...The West Fork Des Moines River at Emmetsburg, or from near
  Graettinger to Cylinder Creek near West Bend.

* WHEN...Until further notice.

* IMPACTS...At 14.5 feet, US 18 is closed.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 10:15 AM CDT Sunday the stage was 14.6 feet.
  - Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 14.9
    feet this evening.
  - Flood stage is 11.0 feet.
  - Flood History...This crest compares to the previous record
    crest of 14.8 feet on 04/12/1969.
