Spot Forecast for Emergency Communication Field Day/Exercise and...DeKalb County Office of Emergency Management
National Weather Service Peachtree City GA
306 PM EDT Thu Jun 20 2024

Forecast is based on forecast start time of 0600 EDT on June 21.
If conditions become unrepresentative...contact the National Weather
Service.

.DISCUSSION...A ridge of high pressure north of the area will gradually
weaken over the next several days. A tropical wave will approach the
Northeast Florida and Southeast Georgia coast on Friday, bringing
increasing moisture to the area. The National Hurricane Center is
forecasting a 40 percent chance of this wave developing into tropical
cyclone (most likely a depression). However, even if this occurs,
the system is forecast to remain weak, and impacts to the exercise
will remain largely unchanged compared to tropical wave impacts.

An isolated shower or thunderstorm may affect the area as early as
Saturday afternoon, but the best chances for rain will be farther to
the southeast. Isolated showers and thunderstorms are expected Sunday
afternoon. However, better chances once again will be farther to the
south.

Winds will be generally light out of the east with gusts to around
12 mph each afternoon. Should the aforementioned tropical wave
develop into a weak cyclone, there may be a slight uptick in wind
gusts in the exercise area.
