If conditions become unrepresentative...contact the National Weather Service. .DISCUSSION...Good afternoon! A ridge of high pressure north of the area will gradually weaken over the next several days. A tropical wave will continue to slowly approach the Northeast Florida and Southeast Georgia coast tonight, bringing increasing moisture to the area. The National Hurricane Center is forecasting a 60 percent chance of this wave developing into a short-lived tropical depression before reaching the coast. However, even if this occurs, the system is forecast to remain weak, and impacts to the exercise area will remain largely unchanged compared to tropical wave impacts. Rain chances are forecast to remain below 10 percent through Saturday night as better chances for showers and thunderstorms associated with the tropical feature remain well southeast of the area. However, the increasing low-level moisture, in concert with slowly rising temperatures through the weekend, will lead to increasing heat indices. Maximum heat indices on Saturday afternoon are forecast to reach around 96, with values near 98 Sunday afternoon. By Sunday afternoon, there will be a slight chance (15%) of showers and thunderstorms as moisture from the remnant tropical feature continues to slowly spread across the area. Winds will be generally light out of the east through Saturday with gusts to around 10 mph each afternoon. Winds will become west of Sunday, but speeds are expected to remain light, with gusts to 14 mph during the afternoon.
