Isolated to scattered showers and storms continue into early afternoon, mainly east of the James River. Severe weather isn`t expected, but storms could produce wind gusts to 50 mph and small hail in addition to frequent lightning. Above average temperatures continue today. Increasing southerly winds expected into tonight, with sustained winds 15 to 25 mph. Strongest winds west of the James River, where gusts up to 45 mph are expected. Wind gusts 30-40 mph elsewhere. Lull in shower/storm activity this afternoon and evening, with rain chances returning tonight and Wednesday. A quarter of an inch of rainfall is possible west of I-29. Otherwise, periodic rain chances continue through the weekend. Above normal temperatures expected into late week. SDZ050-171245- Gregory- ...MODERATE FIRE DANGER... The Grassland Fire Danger Index will reach the moderate category this afternoon. Marginal weather conditions or lowering moisture content of grasses, and other dry organic material on the ground, indicate that there is some potential for a fire to spread.
