Weather Summary for Portions of the Central Plains
National Weather Service Hastings NE
518 AM CDT Wed Jun 19 2024

Focusing on our weather through the end of the work-week...the
bottom line is that we will rapidly transition from a cool and
at-times wet...spring-like day...back to much more summer-like
conditions by the end of the week. As for today...this will almost
certainly be the coolest day of the month...with highs only in the
60s most places...although parts of north central Kansas could
manage the lower 70s. Precipitation-wise...the best way to put
it...is that although any given place in our area will be dry the
majority of the time...at least brief...passing showers or
thunderstorms just cannot be ruled out through tonight at any given
location. Fortunately...severe storms are unlikely...but especially
overnight tonight a few storms with small hail potential appear
possible. Rainfall-wise...the majority of our coverage area is
expected to see no more than an additional ten hundredths to perhaps
one-half inch of rain through tonight...meaning that as
usual...two-day rainfall totals will end up being highly variable
across our area when including what fell on Tuesday. Turning to
Thursday and Friday...the biggest story is that more summer-like
temperatures will make a return...with highs right back into the 80s
most places on Thursday...and then upper 80s to lower 90s Friday.
While at least spotty thunderstorm activity cannot be ruled out at
various points Thursday into Friday...especially within Nebraska
counties north of Interstate 80...odds strongly favor the vast
majority of this time frame being dry. Lastly...breezy to somewhat
windy conditions will also return by the end of the week...with
southerly winds on Friday commonly gusting 30 to 35 MPH.
