At 657 PM MDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along a line extending from 17 miles south of Grand Junction to 14 miles north of Nucla. Movement was east at 50 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts of 50 to 55 mph and pea size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is possible. Locations impacted include... Escalante Forks. This includes the following highways... U.S. Highway 50 in Colorado between mile markers 44 and 64. Colorado 141 between mile markers 84 and 89, near mile marker 92, and between mile markers 121 and 149. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. Torrential rainfall is also occurring with these storms and may lead to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways. Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with these storms. Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe shelter inside a building or vehicle.
