...STRONG THUNDERSTORMS WILL IMPACT CENTRAL MOFFAT AND NORTHWESTERN
RIO BLANCO COUNTIES THROUGH 530 PM MDT...

At 507 PM MDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along
a line extending from 45 miles west of Baggs to 17 miles northeast of
Rangely to 23 miles south of Dinosaur. Movement was east at 50 mph.

HAZARD...Wind gusts of 50 to 55 mph and pea size hail.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
         unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is
         possible.

Locations impacted include...
Rangely, Hiawatha, Elk Springs, Sunbeam, Blue Mountain, Maybell,
Powder Wash, Sparks, Massadona, and Greystone.

This includes the following highways...
 U.S. Highway 40 in Colorado between mile markers 9 and 66.
 Colorado 64 between mile markers 8 and 52.
 Colorado 139 between mile markers 56 and 72.
 Colorado 318 between mile markers 19 and 60.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.

Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with these storms.
Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe
shelter inside a building or vehicle.

These storms may intensify, so be certain to monitor local radio
stations and available television stations for additional information
and possible warnings from the National Weather Service.

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect until 700 PM MDT for
northwestern Colorado...and northeastern Utah.
