...ON THIS DATE IN WEATHER HISTORY...

In 1998, strong thunderstorm winds were reported in extreme
northwest Kansas in the early evening hours.  Five miles southeast
of Bird City in Cheyenne County, a 69 mph wind ripped a new skirting
off a house causing approximately one thousand dollars worth of
property damage.
At about the same time near McDonald, Kansas, in Rawlins County,
strong winds were also reported.  Further south in Sherman County,
penny sized hail was reported near Goodland.
