...ON THIS DATE IN WEATHER HISTORY...

In 1989, early morning thunderstorms in Nebraska produced 4.50
inches of rain around McCook, and 4.65 inches near Auburn and
Brownville.

In 1993, up to 8 inches of rain washed out a section of Highway 25
in the southern part of Thomas County Kansas. The pinto bean crop
sprouted resulting in a 2.5 million dollar crop loss.

In 2011, thunderstorm outflow winds gusted to 73 mph at the
airport in Colby, Kansas. Several hangars received damage to
doors and roofing with minor damage to aircraft and vehicles.
Numerous power poles were blown down and trees were uprooted in
town.
