In 1928, a tornado struck McCook Nebraska. The McCook Tribune
reported that the tornado entered the city from the southwest near
West 4th Street at about 8 in the evening, tearing a path between
West 4th and West 1st Streets. Numerous homes were destroyed or
damaged, but there were no fatalities and comparatively few severe
injuries. A resident who witnessed the tornado described a
jumping, whipping tail that swept the ground, razing some homes
while leaving others nearby untouched.

In 2011, a thunderstorm produced quarter to golf ball sized hail
continuously for 30 minutes northwest of Saint Francis, Kansas.
Hail was reported to be four inches deep and nearly two and three
quarter inches of rain also accompanied the storm.
