...FLOOD ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 AM EDT THIS MORNING...

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues.

* WHERE...Northwestern Union County, North Carolina.

* WHEN...Until 800 AM EDT.

* IMPACTS...Nuisance flooding of low-lying areas adjacent to streams
  and other poor-drainage areas, including farmland, parks,
  greenways, boat-access areas, golf courses, underpasses, and
  parking lots. Isolated, shallow flows over roadways is possible.
  A few flood-prone, low-water crossings may become impassible.  A
  small culvert washout or two is possible.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 446 AM EDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges
    indicate that the heaviest rain bands from a weak coastal low
    have moved well to the west of Union County. Additional
    heavy rainfall is not expected for this event. Widespread
    2.5-3.5" accumulations occurred across the county in about 6
    hours last night, resulting in excessive runoff and rapid
    rises on area streams. Several streams exceeded bankfull
    conditions, and several streamgauges exceeded Action Stage,
    resulting in nuisance flooding of adjacent low-lying areas.
    While floodwaters have receded in much of the county, out-of-
    bank coniditions are persisting in the north and south forks
    of Crooked Creek near Hemby Bridge, generally near Poplin Rd,
    Ridge Rd, Unionville-Indian Trail Rd, Indian Trail-Fairview
    Rd, Idlewild Rd, and Rocky River Rd. Nuisance flooding of
    farmland, woodlands, parks, and greenways will persist in the
    Crooked Creek watershed for the next 3-6 hours. Therefore,
    the Flood Advisory will remain in effect until floodwaters
    recede across the northwestern part of Union County and has
    been cancelled for the remainder of the county.

  - Some locations that may continue to experience flooding
    include...
    Indian Trail, Stallings, Unionville, Lake Park, Hemby Bridge,
    and Fairview.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

dangers of flooding.
