Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Alabama
National Weather Service Huntsville AL
453 AM CDT Fri Sep 20 2024

.DISCUSSION...

A ridge of high pressure in the upper-levels of the atmosphere
will remain in control of weather conditions across the TN Valley
through Saturday. Although the presence of this feature will
result in hot/dry conditions for most of the region today and
Saturday, a very low chance (5-10%) for showers and thunderstorms
exists for locations north of the TN River on Saturday
afternoon/evening. MinRH values will generally be in the 35-45%
range today and tomorrow (lowest in the east), with fair smoke
dispersion indices due to transport winds around 5 MPH. In the
extended forecast, a hot/dry weather pattern will continue on
Sunday/Monday, but an increase in the coverage of showers/storms
is expected Tuesday, which is when a cold front will enter the
region. Low chances for rain and a few storms will remain in the
forecast on Wednesday/Thursday due to some uncertainty regarding
how far south/east the front will travel before stalling.

Fog potential over the next few days: Nocturnal fog will be
possible during the early morning hours each day from today
through Monday. However, coverage is expected to be greatest this
morning.

Potential for Red Flag Conditions: None at this time.
