.DISCUSSION...
Issued at 226 AM CDT Sat Sep 14 2024

We continue to see a weak signal of mid-level warm air advection
over a subtle baroclinic zone where steep lapse rates/elevated
instability may allow isolated or widely scattered morning storms to
impact parts of central and south central Kansas. This feature
remains in the forecast through at least Monday with low probabilities
for morning showers and isolated storms. Most areas are expected
to remain dry but a rogue storm or two will be hard to rule out.
The large-scale pattern will change very little over the central
CONUS through early next week with a continuation of above
normal temperatures and only slight chances for storms.

The large trough over the western CONUS is progged to build very
slowly eastward into the Rockies toward the end of the week. This
may allow for some diurnally driven storms to remain in the forecast
through much of next week with the highest probabilities expected to
arrive later in the week. Above normal temperatures and increasing
relative humidity is anticipated as we move through much of the
upcoming week before a cold front arrives next weekend.

.AVIATION /06Z TAFS THROUGH 06Z SUNDAY/...
Issued at 555 AM CDT Sat Sep 14 2024

Low stratus is gradually making its way west across southeast
Kansas, bringing IFR/MVFR conditions to CNU. This is not
expected to make it much further west than the Flint Hills and
should gradually give way to VFR conditions after sunrise.

Otherwise, VFR conditions are expected at all sites through the
period. Easterly/southeasterly winds will dominate the scene this
afternoon with gusts up to 20 kts possible in central KS.
