Regional Weather Summary
National Weather Service Wichita KS
449 PM CDT Thu Jun 13 2024

Under sunny and breezy conditions temperatures soared near and
above the century mark across many locations over western and
north central Kansas. Hill City was the warmest at 105 degrees.
Temperatures were in the low to upper 90s across the remainder of
the state. Muggy conditions helped heat indices reach 105 to 110
degrees. A cold front continues to push across northern Kansas
late this afternoon. Surface heating and convergence along the
boundary has helped initiate thunderstorms with some of them severe.

This evening showers and thunderstorms will continue to build
across western, central, and northeast Kansas. Some storms are
expected to have damaging winds near 70 mph and possibly large
hail. Other showers and thunderstorms will impact northern
Missouri and northern Oklahoma tonight. Otherwise skies will be
party to mostly cloudy. Lows will be in the lower 60s across the
High Plains to the lower 70s over southeast Kansas and northeast
Oklahoma.

It will not be as hot on Friday. Highs will warm to the upper 80s
to lower 90s across Kansas. Skies will be partly sunny with light
wind out of the northeast to easterly. There will be chances of
showers and thunderstorms again over the High Plains in the
afternoon.
