SOUTHWESTERN BREATHITT AND SOUTHEASTERN LEE COUNTIES THROUGH 400 PM EDT... At 332 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm over Dalesburg, or 12 miles southeast of Booneville, moving northwest at 20 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph and pea size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is possible. Locations impacted include... Booneville, Buckhorn, Turin, Southfork, Cowcreek, Grass, Chestnut Gap, Copebranch, Beech, Scoville, Lerose, Saul, Tallega, Morris Fork, Levi, Valjean, Crockettsville, Arnett, Lower Buffalo, and Conkling. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm and may lead to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways. If on or near Buckhorn Lake State Park, get out of the water and move indoors or inside a vehicle. Remember, lightning can strike out to 10 miles from the parent thunderstorm. If you can hear thunder, you are close enough to be struck by lightning. Move to safe shelter now! Do not be caught on the water in a thunderstorm.
