.DISCUSSION...
Issued at 1040 PM EDT Fri Jun 28 2024

An interesting start this the evening as a broken outflow from
collapsing thunderstorms off Cuba raced northward across our
western waters. Same deal as last night, the eastern flank
remained active for a bit while the western flank quickly fizzled.
Nonetheless it raced northward at 15 to 25 knots and managed to
register at the Sand Key C-MAN station with a gust of 26 knots and
22 knots here at our office on White Street. Residual boundaries
left behind tried to fire new shores but these were quickly
squashed. This is likely due to the lower levels remaining
relatively dry.

For the overnight, did not make any changes. Winds have already
settled back down behind the outflow boundaries and are backing to
the east as expected. This is because the tropical disturbance
nearing the Yucatan Peninsula is pulling further away from the
Keys and ridging is being allowed to settle back in across the
area. In addition, this will lead to an increase in moisture
during the day on Saturday so expect near to above normal
climatological rain chances returning.

As for newly christened Tropical Storm Beryl, Beryl is expected to
continue on a westward track and approach the Windward Islands by
Sunday night and Monday. Thereafter, confidence is low on exact
placement and strength once it enters the Caribbean. For now,
there are no imminent threats to the Florida Keys. Residents,
mariners, boaters are urged to continue following hurricanes.gov
for the latest tropical weather information as well as your local
forecast office here in the Florida Keys at weather.gov/key.

.MARINE...
Issued at 1040 PM EDT Fri Jun 28 2024

Winds have quickly subsided behind the outflow boundaries that
raced across our western waters this evening. A low level ridge
axis lifting north over the Florida Peninsula will shift light to
gentle breezes to the east through Saturday. Breezes will freshen
and veer Saturday evening resulting in gentle to moderate east to
southeast breezes through Wednesday.

.AVIATION...
(00Z TAFS)
Issued at 1040 PM EDT Fri Jun 28 2024

VFR conditions expected with winds gradually backing to the east
by Saturday morning. Expecting an influx of moisture throughout
the day such that rain chances will be gradually increasing.
Confidence remains low on exact placement and timing but if
showers were to move over the island terminals, it would likely be
late morning to early afternoon.
