.NOW...
Through 900 am, numerous showers with some embedded thunderstorms
will wax and wane across the Florida Keys island chain as well as
the adjacent nearshore and offshore coastal waters to the north and
south. Movement of this activity will be somewhat chaotic, but
generally to the northwest to north at near 10 knots. Mariners
encountering the stronger portions of this activity, mainly north of
Key West in the vicinity of Snipe Point, can expect bouts of blinding
downpours, wind gusts up to 20 to 25 knots, and occasional cloud to
surface lightning strikes. Island communities may see an additional
quarter to half of an inch of additional rainfall, with some locally
higher amounts possible with stronger showers.
