Hot weather, humid air and subsidence trapped moisture near the ground causing heat indices in some areas to rise above 110 degrees this afternoon. Corn fields cause high humidity during the summer and subsidence in the atmosphere trapped the moisture from the corn. Dew points in these areas rose into the lower 80s.
