...A STRONG THUNDERSTORM WILL IMPACT NORTH CENTRAL ST. MARTIN AND
NORTHEASTERN ST. LANDRY PARISHES THROUGH 100 PM CDT...

At 1221 PM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm near
Port Barre, or 7 miles southwest of Palmetto, moving east at 35 mph.

HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph and pea size hail.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
         unsecured objects. Minor damage to vegetation and outdoor
         objects is possible.

Locations impacted include...
Opelousas, Krotz Springs, Leonville, Melville, Palmetto, Port Barre,
Washington, and Atchafalaya National Wildlife Refuge.

This includes Interstate 49 between mile markers 15 and 29.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.

Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm and may lead to
localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded
roadways.
