.SYNOPSIS...Isolated showers and thunderstorms expected to taper

.SHORT TERM...Thursday through Friday

Thursday, isolated showers and thunderstorms are expected to
dissipate and head east out of the state with drier weather
conditions settling in behind, however chances (5-20%) for storms
remain for White Pine County through the afternoon. Cooler
temperatures settle in Thursday as the cold front from an upper
low moves over northern Nevada, leaving high temperatures in the
70s to 80s (80s to 90s for central Nevada). Low temperatures
expected to be in the 40s for northern Nevada and 60s for central
Nevada. Southeastern Elko County, including the city of West
Wendover is expected to get some relief overnight Thursday as low
temperatures are to be in the 60s. Fire weather conditions are
expected to elevate as RH values are expected to drop between
10-20% this afternoon all zones along with elevated winds expected
in the afternoon at 15-20 mph with gusts as high as 25 mph. RH
values for all other zones

Friday, near zonal flow is expected to be dominant over the state
which will bring in drier weather conditions, however temperatures
are expected to slightly increase yet remain in the 70s to 80s
(80s to 90s for central Nevada). Overnight lows will have a bigger
increase with lows in the 50s to 60s compared to previous night.
RH values are expected to drop between the single digits and 17%
across all zones however winds are not expected to elevate much
with speeds staying relatively below 10 mph with the exception of
mountain tops at 10-15 mph in the afternoon.

.LONG TERM...Saturday through next Thursday

Dry conditions and hotter temperatures with highs in the 90s
return Saturday across the Great Basin region as south-southwest
winds increase ahead of an upper-level trough. The trough is still
expected to traverse the area Sunday bringing showers and
thunderstorms with limited rainfall to far northern Nevada near
the Idaho border Sunday afternoon. Slightly cooler temperatures
are expected early next week int he wake of the trough and weak
cold front with highs across northern Nevada in the 80s through
Tuesday. Forecast confidence for dry conditions and hot
temperatures is high going into the end of next week as high
pressure dominates keeping moisture out of the region. Expect
highs in the 90s and lows in the 50s and 60s. Winds will be out of
the west-northwest each day with probabilities of wind gusts of 30
mph or greater less than 30% in valleys.

&&

.AVIATION...VFR conditions expected for the next 24 hours at all terminals.
Cumulus build-ups will develop Thursday afternoon and evening in
portions of central and northern NV. Isolated to scattered showers
and thunderstorms are possible across White Pine County,
including KELY. Gusty outflow winds and lightning will be the
primary threats starting after 19Z. Breezy winds from the W-NW
expected to affect all TAF sites during the afternoon, increasing
to 10-15 knots with gusts to 20-25 knots.

&&

.FIRE WEATHER...Isolated showers and thunderstorms expected to
dissipate early this morning for eastern Nevada. Chances for more
isolated thunderstorms expected during the day for zone 425.
Elevated fire weather conditions as RH values drop below 15% for
all zones (with the exception of zone 469, 470 and most of 425
staying above 15%) and elevated winds reaching 15-20 mph, gusts 25
mph, however does not meet red flag warning criteria.
