OPEN LAKE FORECAST for Lake Michigan
National Weather Service Milwaukee/Sullivan WI
854 PM CDT Sun Sep 22 2024

FOR WATERS BEYOND FIVE NAUTICAL MILES OF SHORE ON Lake Michigan.

Waves are provided as a range of significant wave heights, which
is the average of the highest 1/3 of the wave, along with the
average height of the highest 10% of the waves which will
occasionally be encountered.

.SYNOPSIS...

Apart from the Tuesday evening & night period, predominantly
north to northeast winds will prevail over the open waters through
the upcoming week. Current gusty winds will persist through Monday
afternoon as 29.9 inch low pressure shifts toward Lake Erie and
30.0 inch high pressure builds into the northern Great Plains.
Persistent waves in the 6-10 feet range will accompany gusts,
particularly over the southern half of the open waters. Gusts
will taper late Monday afternoon & night as the northern Great
Plains high pressure builds into the Lake Michigan vicinity.
The next chance for rain arrives Tuesday morning ahead of an upper
disturbance, with only slight chances for thunderstorms over the
far southern portions of the lake. A broad area of 30.0 inch high
pressure will be dominant surface feature regionally through mid
to late week, helping to maintain north-northeast breezes.
Additional rain chances arrive by next weekend.
