OPEN LAKE FORECAST for Lake Michigan
National Weather Service Milwaukee/Sullivan WI
837 AM CDT Wed Sep 18 2024

FOR WATERS BEYOND FIVE NAUTICAL MILES OF SHORE ON Lake Michigan.

Waves are provided as a range of significant wave heights, which
is the average of the highest 1/3 of the wave, along with the
average height of the highest 10% of the waves which will
occasionally be encountered.

.SYNOPSIS...

High pressure around 30.2 inches over New England and low
pressure around 29.3 inches over the northern High Plains will
keep winds light through today. High pressure will gradually
weaken and drift farther east on Thursday, with the low over the
Plains strengthening to 29.2 inches. This will produce south-
southeast winds Thursday into Friday. In addition, a weak front
will push southeastward across the open waters Thursday night into
Friday, bringing showers and isolated thunderstorms. Drier
conditions are expected Saturday before another area of low
pressure around 29.6 inches begins to push into the Great Lakes
region early next week, with winds remaining generally easterly
ahead of this system. As the low pressure approaches, additional
showers and thunderstorm chances develop. A return to more
westerly winds are expected behind the system.
