.DISCUSSION...
(This evening through next Wednesday)
Issued at 232 PM CDT Thu Jun 6 2024

Skies are mostly sunny across the Mid-South this afternoon with
temperatures in the mid to upper 80s. One frontal boundary
continues to move slowly across west Tennessee and north
Mississippi with a second front moving into extreme southern
Missouri. Some scattered showers have developed ahead of the
second front and are moving southeast toward north central and
northeast Arkansas. This activity is weakening as it approaches
the Mid- South but can`t rule out some light rain over portions of
the northeast Arkansas and the Missouri bootheel later this
afternoon.

The first cold front is expected to fall apart by this evening
while the second cold front will quickly move through the region
tonight. Little if any precipitation is expected to develop along
this front tonight. High pressure will start to build into the
region from the north bringing somewhat cooler air to the Mid-
South. Temperatures will be near to a few degrees below normal
with lows Friday morning in the 60s to around 70 degrees.

Dry weather and slightly below normal temperatures are in store
for Friday and Friday night as high pressure remains over the
region. Highs on Friday will be in the low to mid 80s with lows
Saturday morning in the low to mid 60s.

Another cold front will approach the region from the northwest on
Saturday and then move through the Mid-South on Sunday. Scattered
showers and a few thunderstorms will move across northern sections
of the Mid-South on Saturday and Saturday night. As the front gets
closer to the region early Sunday morning, showers and thunderstorms
will become more widespread across the entire Mid-South on Sunday.
Locally heavy rainfall is possible across northern sections of
the Mid-South from late Saturday night into Sunday morning. As the
cold front moves south of the region on Monday, rain will start
to become less widespread.

High pressure moves into the region by Tuesday morning with dry
and somewhat cooler weather for Monday night through Tuesday
morning. A series of upper level troughs will pass through the
region from Tuesday afternoon through Wednesday bringing a small
chance of showers and possible thunderstorms for the entire Mid-
South.

.AVIATION...
(18Z TAFS)
Issued at 1220 PM CDT Thu Jun 6 2024

VFR CIGs will prevail through the period. A few CAMs develop
showers impacting MEM and JBR this afternoon as a reinforcing
front sweeps across the Mid-South. However, given low confidence
in coverage opted to leave mention of precip out of TAF. Ahead of
the front, expect winds to gust up to 18 kts for a few hours
before slowing and veering northeast overnight.
