Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Eastern North Carolina
National Weather Service Newport/Morehead City NC
310 PM EDT Thu Jun 20 2024

.DISCUSSION...
Ridging aloft and surface high pressure remain dominant through
the short term period, although a tropical wave passing north of
the Bahamas this afternoon will bring increased moisture along
coastal locales tomorrow, bringing a low risk (20% chance) of
showers and potentially a thunderstorm or two Fri morning and
afternoon. Farther inland, dry air remains in control with RHs
35-40% west of Highway 17. Southeasterly winds range from less
than 5 kt inland to 5-10 kt along the water.
