Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service Missoula MT
407 AM MDT Wed Sep 18 2024

.DISCUSSION...For today showers will diminish across north-
central Idaho and western Montana except along the Divide. Nice
warm and sunny days will end the week with highs in the 60s and
70s most valley locations except 80s in the lower valleys between
Orofino and the Salmon River corridor.

A weak wave will bring gusty westerly winds and drier air into the
region Friday afternoon. There`s a 40 to 50 percent chance for
showers in the Glacier region in the afternoon. The incoming dry
air will enhance radiational cooling cooling for both Saturday
and Sunday morning with possible frost in select lower valleys of
both north- central Idaho and western Montana. Besides the cooler
mornings, the remainder of the weekend looks mostly dry and warm.

All the ensemble clusters depict a potential shortwave trough by
Monday. There is a general 20 to 30 percent chance for showers.
Temperatures will be seasonable to start then a gradual warm-up
ensues thereafter.

&&

.AVIATION...A departing low pressure area will keep persistent
showers going today towards the Continental Divide with mountain
obscurations and lowered ceilings at times. Clearing skies tonight
could give way to patchy valley fog by Thursday morning.
