Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service Missoula MT
255 AM MDT Mon Sep 23 2024

.DISCUSSION...Similar conditions are expected today compared to
Sunday, a nice fall-like day with clouds and sun. Tuesday and
Wednesday will be warmer as a high pressure ridge builds over the
region. Wednesday will be warm enough that some locations within
western Montana could be within a couple of degrees of daily
records.

A fast moving trough breaks down the ridge on Wednesday, expect
breezy conditions. Thursday temperatures cool back to normal for
this time of year and slight chances of showers develops in
northwest Montana.

The majority of models are not excited about a impactful weather
event through the end of September, with continued seasonal
temperatures, breezy afternoons, and low chance of showers mainly
north of I-90. A minority, currently 23%, do have a cold trough
potentially bringing snow to the mountains of the Continental
Divide to start the following week.

.AVIATION...VFR conditions continue today under a westerly flow.
