...STRONG THUNDERSTORMS WILL IMPACT EASTERN UNION...PULASKI...
MASSAC...POPE...JOHNSON...ALEXANDER...NORTHERN BALLARD AND
NORTHWESTERN MCCRACKEN COUNTIES THROUGH 1130 PM CDT...

At 1042 PM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along
a line extending from near Goreville to near Dongola to Olive Branch.
Movement was east at 40 mph.

HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph and half inch hail.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
         unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is
         possible.

Locations impacted include...
Metropolis, Vienna, La Center, Goreville, Mounds, Dongola, Barlow,
Golconda, Tamms, Mound City, Karnak, New Columbia, Dixon Springs,
Olive Branch, Lake Of Egypt Area, Ullin, Kevil, Joppa, Olmsted, and
Cypress.

This includes the following highways...
 Interstate 24 in Illinois between Mile Markers 2 and 34.
 Interstate 57 in Illinois between Mile Markers 5 and 42.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.

Torrential rainfall is also occurring with these storms and may lead
to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded
roadways.

Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with these storms.
Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe
shelter inside a building or vehicle.
