Fire Weather Planning Forecast for NE Oregon and SE Washington
National Weather Service Pendleton OR
205 PM PDT Tue May 21 2024

.DISCUSSION...Showers are moving into the region as of this
afternoon with the passage of a frontal boundary. There remains
high confidence in wetting rains from the Columbia Basin through
Blue and Wallowa Mountains (90%). Winds increase tomorrow,
becoming breezy from a westerly direction. A wind advisory has
been issued for the lower Columbia Basin of Oregon due to winds
gusting around 45-50 mph with moderate to high confidence
(60-70%). As the main portion of the low then moves into the
region, instability will rise and a chance of showers and possibly
thunderstorms is expected, with low confidence (10-30%). Storms
are not expected to be strong, and should mostly contain a chance
of lightning and locally breezy winds. Finally, lowering snow
levels will promote a chance of mountain snow as temperatures drop
tomorrow, though amounts will remain light and quickly melt off
as temperatures recovering by the next day.

***Thunderstorms imply strong gusty winds***
***Winds are 20 foot 10 minute averages***
***CWR-chance of wetting rain 0.10 or greater***
